Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a large privately owned organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage close activities, maintain ledger accuracy, and strengthen financial reporting processes. The role will play a key part in ensuring reconciliations, entries, and account balances are completed accurately and on schedule.

Responsibilities:

Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely completion of financial reporting tasks.
Maintain the general ledger by recording, reviewing, and validating financial activity to support accurate accounting records.
Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
Perform account reconciliations regularly to identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and maintain reliable financial data.
Complete bank reconciliations by matching transactions, researching outstanding items, and confirming cash accuracy.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for period-end reporting and analysis.
Review accounting records and supporting documentation to improve consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established procedures.
At least 5 years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accounting capacity.
Demonstrated expertise in month-end close processes and maintaining accurate financial records.
Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
Hands-on experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to investigate discrepancies, organize supporting documentation, and meet reporting deadlines.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a contract assignment environment.
