Orion Solutions, LLC is actively seeking an Anti-Submarine Warfare Evaluator (ASWE) and Surface Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare Specialist (SSAS) Instructor, supporting a government customer in San Diego, CA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for fleet sailors in support of Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC). Training program requires the ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction; Candidate would serve as a Senior Instructor to train Anti-Submarine Warfare tactics and the tactical employment of Advance Capability Build ASW suites to support employment to including system capabilities and limitations, employment of automated systems, mission planning and execution, and tactical communications. When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC courses supporting the operational employment of the Anti-Submarine Weapon Systems.

GENERAL TASK DESCRIPTION:

Coordinates the development and delivery of complex Anti-Submarine Warfare Tactical watchstander training programs, facilitating training and understanding to Officer and Senior Enlisted students on underwater acoustics, AEGIS platforms with SQQ-89A(V)-15 SONAR System, Rotary and Fixed Wing ASW Assets, and U.S. Subsurface Capabilities and related materials in support of customer training objectives.
Establishes and reviews ASW course content and objectives.
Provide assistance to government representatives / stakeholders with determining applicability of current Anti-Submarine Warfare tactics, underwater acoustics, SONAR principles, environmental analysis, and exploitation including tactical oceanography.
Maintains records of training activities (via Integrated Performance Assessment Tool), participant progress, and program effectiveness.
Provides instructor training on the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 SONAR system to officer ASWE and SSAS students in Planning and Tactics topic areas and assists in the planning, set up, and management of the SQQ-89A(V)-15 SONAR Suite during laboratory scenario exercises.
Provides work leadership to lower-level employees, including evaluating the effectiveness of their training presentations and programs, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
May serve as ASW technical team or task lead.
Conducts research into new ASW training, educational, and multimedia technologies.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Position may require travel to instruct at other learning sites or off-shift hours as required to support customer.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) years of specialized shipboard ASW experience as either an Officer or Senior Enlisted SONAR Technician Operator with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a senior level training environment.
Experience as a prior qualified ASWE or SSAS or Weapon Tactics Instructor (WTI) who has served on an AEGIS ship and/or has experience in Anti-Submarine Warfare planning is a significant plus.
Of the five (5) years, one (1) year experience as an instructor (NEC 9502/805A) or facilitator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems is required.
Experience as a Master/Afloat Training Specialist is a significant plus.
Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing and integrating shipboard and shore-based embedded training systems, specifically Trainer Control Workstation (TCW), the Surface ASW Synthetic Trainer (SAST), and Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT).
Proven expertise utilizing the Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) and driving operational readiness as an active member or leader of a Combat Systems Training Team (CSTT).
A strong background in Acoustic Analysis and Target Motion Analysis.
A strong working knowledge of maintenance requirements for the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 SONAR system.
Designation Letters for ASWC and SUWC a significant plus.
Hold Current Secret Clearance or able to obtain Secret Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Location: San Deigo, CA.
Travel may be required up to <5% of time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
