Position: Pastoral Administrative Professional - Parochial Affairs

Location: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edinburg, Texas
Job Summary: Primary function is to assist pastor in all administrative, property, and parochial affairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Tend to all of the pastor’s phone calls, messages, and calendar. Book any meetings, or complete any and all administrative tasks that he may need as well as any errands.
- Keep priest’s days agenda
- Take care of all sacramental paperwork (Baptisms, Communions, Confirmations, Marriages, and Deaths)
- Handle all Sacramental Record books and requests.
- Handle all purchasing of Sacramental and Pastoral items (incense, candles, hosts, etc.), anything and everything that has to do with the church building or the Sacraments.
- Write all letters from the pastor and professional correspondences for St. Joseph Church.
- Handle all grants, grant writing and fundraising correspondences.
- Supervise the part time receptionists.
Property Management:
- In charge of all upkeep of parish property, buildings, and church.
- Handle all outside vendors and contractors
- Spearhead all environmental projects and plans
- Come up with solutions and plans for maintance and beautification.
- Supervise maintance man and assign duties accordingly
- Handle all purchasing of property managements (hardware, software, and any general upkeep).
Parochial Affairs:
- Communicate with other parishes, local and international, to locate records of parishioners and for marriage preparation.
- Handle all funeral arrangements, meet with families, call servers, discuss rosary and any other services the church can provide.
- Handle all office and parish complaints, speak to parishioners in order to find solutions.
- Be in charge of all ministries and assist in ways they can grow. Listen to proposals of new ministries, and give input as to how they can be implemented at St. Joseph Church.
- Look for media, items, and sacramentals to help increase and encourage the faith such as pamphlets, meditations, flyers.
- Handle all social media platforms and website.
- Handle all promotion and public relations of the parish.
- Make all flyers and advertisements.
- Think of ideas to help with liturgical events, liturgies, and community life.
- Maintain Parish Bulletin and communications.

- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with some college.
- Must possess great communication skills, including professional telephone skills and effective message taking.
- Must have a history in a Catholic pastoral environment or ministry
- Must have office experience of more than one year.
- Must have the ability to take initiative and respond accordingly in difficult situations.
- Must have the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, or in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish both verbal and written
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Must have knowledge of typing, filing, and computer skills. (Microsoft Office)
- Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Must have the ability to maintain clerical records.
- Must be a fast learner and have a strong will to learn.
- Due to work environment, employee is preferred to be a practicing Roman Catholic, but it is not mandatory.

The work area is usually a typical office environment, but employee must be prepared at all times to deal with unexpected circumstances. In a church environment it is necessary to expect to encounter or come across parishioner or visitors whom need assistance with life and death situations. It is important to remain calm and collective to better serve the community.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may vary.
Average 40 hours per week.
