Job Overview

We are a dedicated and client-focused law office committed to providing compassionate, high-quality legal services in the areas of immigration law and federal criminal defense. Our team values integrity, diligence, and advocacy. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our legal team and help clients navigate complex legal systems.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the attorney by managing various administrative tasks, ensuring that the office operates smoothly and efficiently. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and documentation.

Responsibilities

Assist attorney with case preparation, including gathering and organizing documents for trials and hearings.
Draft, prepare, and file immigration applications and supporting documentation (USCIS, EOIR, DOS, etc.)
Conduct legal research and summarize findings
Maintain client files, both digital and physical, with high attention to confidentiality and detail
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and government agencies
Track deadlines and manage case calendars
General administrative duties (e.g., answering phones, scheduling, data entry)
Conduct document review to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and correspondence under the supervision of attorneys.

Qualifications:

Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal preferred (immigration or criminal law experience highly valued)
Familiarity with immigration forms, procedures, and terminology
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and ability to work independently
Bilingual (Spanish) required
Proficiency with legal software (e.g., Clio, Docketwise, or similar) is a plus

Skills

Strong clerical skills with proficiency in document management systems.
Familiarity with Clio for efficient file organization.
Excellent project management abilities to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
Knowledge of law office operations and legal terminology is essential.
Understanding of immigration law is highly desirable.
Proficient in legal research tools such as PACER to assist attorneys effectively.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
