Full Job Description

Title: MSIS Coordinator K-5

Department: MIS Department

Reports to (Title): Principal/Director of Accreditation & Management Information Systems

Major Functions:
Performs complex diversified clerical and data processing-related duties pertaining to the preparation, input, storage, retrieval and
reporting of student and class-related data. Work is performed independently and reviewed through observation and results obtained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Enrolls students through InfoSnap
Scans documents into InfoSnap
Approves all students in InfoSnap
Enrolls, withdraws and maintains ALL students in PowerSchool

o Initial Registration
o Completes State Province page in PowerSchool
o Request for Release: MSIS, PowerSchool, Records
o Enroll Students
o Withdraw Students
o Maintains Teacher Master Schedule
o Generate student Schedules
o Runs report cards
o Makes changes in Address/Phone Number
o Maintains Ownership in MSIS/PowerSchool
o Release and Transfer in MSIS/PowerSchool
o Maintains Summer Activity in MSIS
o Maintains Leaver Control Manual
o Maintains attendance 

Updates Excuses in PowerSchool 
Updates Excuses in MSIS 
Maintains attendance folder on each student 
Maintain check-ins, check-outs and tardies

o Emails absences as required by Board Policy to the State Attendance Officers
o Maintains Discipline 

Notify State Attendance Officer as Suspensions occur

Maintain Data for All Students on Cums and Inserts

o Maintains cumulative records
o Entrance Records
o Personal/Family Data
o Withdrawal Records
o Transfer Records
o Maintains updated Student Data
o Maintain an Audit/Manila Folder
o Mailing of Records
o Immunization Certificate of Compliance
o Attendance Records
o Expulsion information
o Grade Labels-Printing

State Reporting

o Maintains accurate data in PowerSchool
o Exports Monthly Days Taught for each reporting period
o Exports Monthly Student Data for each reporting period
o Monitors exports to assure data is sent successfully
o Maintains Personnel in MSIS
o Updates and Maintains Teacher Attendance in MSIS
o Runs Reports to verify Monthly Data 

Monthly Attendance Pre-Approved Report (MSIS) 

Holding Area Discipline (MSIS) 
Holding Area Student Withdrawals Report (MSIS) 
Holding Area Student Entries Report (MSIS) 
Holding Area Absence Report (MSIS) 
Daily Attendance Report (PowerSchool) 
Absence Tally Sheet Comparing MSIS and PowerSchool 
Success Page (MSIS) 
Emails 5 or more unexcused absences to MIS Director 
Emails suspension/expulsions spreadsheet to MIS Office

Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all Desoto County Schools’ records.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a GED, plus two (2) years progressively responsible clerical
office experience and computer-based training courses, including MSIS, ADA and worked with student cum/insert
records. Pass a MIS computer skills test.
