Job description

AAA Ambulance has been serving the Pine Belt area since 1965. We are seeking to employ an experienced, poised, and self-disciplined individual to perform claims processing in our Billing Office. The candidate must be self-motivated, determined, detail-oriented, and have problem-solving skills.

Position functions include:

Responsible for workflows in the billing system to identify unpaid insurance claims and bill patient claims.
Calling insurance companies and checking the status of unpaid claims.
Ensuring expedient payment by taking the necessary steps to generate payment from the carrier.
Submitting appeals to insurance carriers in a timely manner when necessary.
Answering incoming customer service phone calls and/or walk in customers to provide any assistance required in order to meet the customers’ needs.
Verify and/or enter all patient demographics information.
Verify and interpret medical insurance eligibility and benefit details.
Select correct schedules for claims processing.
Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills when clarifying information to patients, providers and insurance companies.

The ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and function in a fast-paced environment is crucial to being successful at this job position.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Must have at least one (1) year of experience with medical billing
Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing is preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology
Previous experience in an EMS setting is a plus
