Premier Staffing Solution is seeking experienced Facilities Engineers with a strong Process Safety focus to support a major oil & gas operator in the Midland and Delaware Basins. This is a long-term opportunity for engineers who have hands-on experience designing, building, operating, and optimizing upstream production facilities while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
This position is approximately 50% field / 50% office, supporting both new facility construction and existing facility optimization, upgrades, and expansions. Candidates should expect regular travel to multiple production sites with drive times of up to two hours one way.
Position Overview
As a Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting production facilities from concept through operation with an emphasis on Process Safety Management (PSM), production battery optimization, facility reliability, and regulatory compliance. You'll work alongside operations, construction, and maintenance teams to ensure facilities are designed, documented, and operated safely while maximizing production uptime.
This role is ideal for experienced Mechanical Engineers or Petroleum Engineers who have worked in upstream production facilities for a major operator or a well-established independent operator.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, construction, startup, and operation of upstream production facilities.
- Evaluate existing facilities and develop recommendations for upgrades, expansions, and optimization projects.
- Improve production battery performance while ensuring facilities operate safely and efficiently.
- Apply Process Safety Management (PSM) principles throughout facility design and operations.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), risk assessments, and root cause investigations.
- Read, develop, update, and redline P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Partner with Operations, Construction, and Maintenance teams to resolve field issues and improve reliability.
- Ensure facilities comply with API, NFPA, and company engineering standards.
- Maintain complete engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- 10–15+ years of upstream oil & gas facilities engineering experience (15+ years preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of Process Safety Management (PSM) experience in regulated oil & gas facilities.
- Strong background in production facilities, surface infrastructure, production batteries, and facility optimization.
- Hands-on field experience building and/or operating upstream production facilities.
- Experience participating in PHA, MOC, risk assessments, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to read, create, and revise P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
- Working knowledge of API and NFPA standards.
- Permian Basin experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips, Occidental, or another major operator is highly preferred.
