Full Job Description

Thank you for your interest in the Client Support Specialist position with Missoula Aging Services, a premier employer, in beautiful Missoula, Montana. This is a 35-hour per week position on our In-Home Services Team. The starting wage for this non-exempt position is $23.37 per hour.

Enjoy having your nights and weekends available to do what you like! The In-Home Services Team hours are Monday through Friday between 8 AM to 5 PM. Due to business and client need, the Client Support Specialist may need to work an occasional holiday. Use of a personal vehicle and travel within Missoula County is required (mileage reimbursement included). You must maintain a valid MT driver’s license and vehicle insurance as required by MT state law.

Client Support Specialists enhance the quality of life for people living in the community by providing light housekeeping, personal care services, respite care, and other in-home support that promotes health, safety, and independence. They provide social interaction, reduce feelings of isolation, offer mental stimulation through conversation, and connect clients with local and regional supportive services. This position supports individuals in maintaining their independence, dignity, and self-worth while strengthening their social connections within the community. Work is performed primarily in clients' residences but may include providing housekeeping services in a residential facility on a case-by-case basis.

Additionally, candidates shall have:

1) Working knowledge of housekeeping, homemaking, personal care, respite services, and safe in-home care practices, including infection prevention and control in client homes.

2) Knowledge of aging-related issues, including experience supporting older adults with cognitive impairment, memory loss, or other age-related conditions.

3) Knowledge of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) and the ability to assist clients with activities that promote independence and quality of life.

4) Ability to provide compassionate, client-centered support, including transportation to appointments, running errands, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, correspondence assistance, appointment scheduling, and accessing community resources.

5) Ability to document client services accurately in the MAS electronic record to ensure continuity of care and effective communication with family members and the care team.

6) Strong customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and active listening skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and preserve the dignity, privacy, and independence of clients and their families.

7) Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate schedules, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently.

8) Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications, email, and other technology used to support client services and documentation.

9) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family caregivers, healthcare providers, community partners, and MAS staff.

The preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities described above are typically acquired through at least two years of on-the-job training and experience in a home care agency, assisted living facility, long-term care setting, hospital, or other human services environment. Comparable work or volunteer experience may also be considered.
