Full Job Description

Cook & Associates PLLC is a young but high-volume criminal defense law firm, which handles cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts in Montana. While based in Missoula, Cook & Associates PLLC accepts cases in jurisdictions statewide. The ideal candidate for the legal assistant position will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, PDF software (such as Adobe or similar software), careful attention to detail, and excellent communication and organizational skills. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is able to work well in a team and individual setting. Law firm experience and/or a bachelor's degree are a plus but not required. This is an in-office part-time position, and the hours are 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a starting salary of $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. However, there is potential to advance to a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities:

Answer all incoming telephone calls, schedule client appointments, and follow up with clients as needed.
Communicate professionally with clients, staff members, medical providers, experts, and other parties via telephone and email.
Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and provide administrative support to attorneys throughout the case process.
Locate, organize, and prepare case files and documents for attorneys in advance of court appearances, hearings, trials, client meetings, and other legal proceedings.
Maintain, organize, and update physical and digital case files.
File legal documents with courts and through electronic filing systems.
Assist with monthly billing, including preparing client invoices and reviewing time and expense entries.
Maintain an inventory of office supplies and communicate when supplies need to be reordered.
Assist with various office errands, including mailing and shipping documents, picking up office supplies, and making other local deliveries and pickups as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of common office areas.
Perform other administrative and clerical duties as needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
