Full Job Description

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt

Minimum Education: A high school diploma

Experience (may include, but not limited to the following):

Medical Office
Audiology Clinic
Customer Service

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Basic medical vocabulary
Strong interpersonal skills
Adapt readily to change
Intermediate computer skills, including experience with Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom, word processing, basic knowledge of Excel/Sheets, and electronic medical records. Familiarity with computer hardware, parts, and accessories.
Accurate, complete record-keeping
Ability to manage multiple priorities

Job Summary: An audiology assistant will embody the mission and vision of Merit Hearing. He/she is expected to consistently exceed patient and health care providers’ expectations using Merit Hearing’s values.

Hours: Casual / Part-time Position with a minimum of 8 hours per week

Supervision: Supervised by the audiologist.

Major Duties: An audiology assistant’s duty is to:

Perform basic troubleshooting, minor repairs, and cleaning of hearing aids, earmolds, and accessories.
Administer certain tests as instructed by the audiologist.
Assist the audiologist with appointments as needed.
Restore or verify previous patient settings of hearing devices.
Perform listening checks and visual inspection of hearing devices and accessories.
Assist with Bluetooth connections to hearing aids.
Send hearing devices, earmolds, and accessories for repair.
Place orders for new hearing devices, earmolds, and accessories.
Receive and prepare new hearing aid orders for the fitting appointments.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly office.
Greet patients entering the clinic, schedule appointments as needed.
Prepare patient paperwork and compiling electronic patient records.
Record keeping & filing.
Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and local policies.
Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in conformity with all applicable federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations in his/her relationship with the public and other health care professionals.
Maintain a safe and efficient office environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently using knowledge and technical skills.
