Full Job Description

Emergency Department (ED) Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Department (ED) Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to medical staff in the emergency department, ensuring efficient patient care and smooth department operations.

Responsibilities

Assist medical staff with patient care procedures in the emergency department.
Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and preparing patients for examinations.
Operate and maintain medical equipment used in the ED.
Ensure cleanliness and readiness of treatment areas and equipment.
Transport patients to and from the emergency department as needed.
Document patient information accurately and maintain records in compliance with hospital policies.
Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist with patient stabilization under supervision.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an ED Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of emergency department procedures and protocols.
Basic clinical skills including phlebotomy, EKG, and wound care assistance.
Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical training or certification is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires working in a dynamic emergency department setting, often involving shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. The ED Technician must be able to handle stressful situations with professionalism and compassion.
