Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional perioperative care across diverse healthcare settings in,. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in surgical nursing, with a strong focus on patient safety, aseptic technique, and efficient operating room procedures. The Travel OR RN will be responsible for managing complex surgical cases, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile equipment, verifying surgical supplies, and ensuring all necessary instruments are available and functional.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by providing instrument passing, tissue handling, and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Monitor patient vital signs continuously and respond promptly to any changes in condition during surgery.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients pre- and post-operatively regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to minimize risk of contamination or infection.
- Collaborate with anesthesia teams, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless operative workflows.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current state licensure in.
- Must have 1 recent year of Operating Room experience and 2 years RN experience
- Experience working in Operating Room (OR) setting.
- Knowledge of OR protocols and procedures.
- Proven operating room experience with proficiency in OR procedures including suturing, sterile processing, and instrument handling.
- Experience working with diverse surgical specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology (including catheterization), trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma centers), neurosurgery (including PICU experience), or orthopedics is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is advantageous.
- Critical care experience in ICU or emergency room settings is preferred; knowledge of acute pain management and ventilator management is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical documentation standards.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across various healthcare settings.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently under pressure.
