Our busy cardiology practice is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Office Clerk to join our team at our Providence location in Mobile, Alabama. This position is responsible for verifying insurance eligibility, reviewing and updating patient demographic information, and working with hospital billing systems and documentation to ensure accurate patient and insurance information.

The ideal candidate will have previous medical office or healthcare business office experience, knowledge of various medical insurance plans, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced medical office environment.

This is a full-time, day shift position with no weekends and paid holidays off.

Responsibilities

Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage
Review and update patient demographic and insurance information
Review information from internal systems, hospital billing systems, and supporting documentation
Ensure patient and insurance information is complete and accurate
Identify and correct discrepancies in patient demographic and insurance records
Work efficiently with a high volume of patient accounts and documentation
Maintain accurate information within electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) and billing systems
Communicate with patients, insurance companies, hospital departments, and internal staff as needed
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance
Assist with additional business office and administrative responsibilities as needed
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient daily operations

Qualifications

Previous medical office, healthcare business office, or medical billing experience preferred
Knowledge of various medical insurance plans required
Experience verifying insurance eligibility preferred
Familiarity with hospital billing systems and medical documentation preferred
Basic typing and computer skills required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced healthcare environment
Strong work ethic and ability to work well as part of a team
