Job description:
NSC Staffing is seeking experienced Shipfitters to join our team in the Pascagoula, Mississippi area. If you have 3 plus years of experience as a Shipfitter Journeyperson and are ready to support exciting marine projects, we want to hear from you.
Position Overview
As a Shipfitter, you will perform steel structural work aboard a variety of marine vessels, including U.S. Naval Vessels, Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships, and commercial vessels. This role supports ship repair, modernization, and fabrication projects in an active shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural repairs and modernization work with minimal supervision
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and job specifications
- Accurately measure, layout, fabricate, and install shipboard structures
- Fabricate templates and install perpendiculars and structural components
- Utilize solid mechanical aptitude to meet production and quality standards
Qualifications
- Strong comprehension of instructions, drawings, and correspondence
- Knowledge of ship repair terminology and compartment location nomenclature
- Ability to wear required PPE in compliance with OSHA standards
- Ability to write clear Condition Found Reports (CFRs)
- Effective communication skills with supervisors and team members
- Proficient in reading structural drawings, weld symbols, and Navy damage control diagrams
- Experience fabricating templates, squaring plates, and installing shipboard structures
- Proficient with oxy-acetylene torch cutting and washing
- Welding experience using SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW processes
- Safe operation of hand and power tools (grinders, saws, drills)
- Knowledge of structural shop equipment (shears, punches, brakes)
- Strong math skills using both U.S. customary and metric systems
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant shipyard experience

Pay is $29/hr for local worker and $20 plus$100 Per diem for Travelers
