Want to learn a trade the right way — and get paid while you do it?
Noah's Hammer builds and repairs decks, fences, porches, and patios across Mobile. I'm the owner — a former firefighter and tactical paramedic — and I run this crew on one standard: we build it right, or we don't build it at all.
I'm bringing on some part-time Apprentice Carpenters. You don't need years of experience — you need to show up, work hard, and actually want to learn the trade. I'll teach you the rest. This is a ground-floor seat on a growing crew, with a real path to steady hours, full-time, and eventually team leadership.
Heads up — this is real work. Some days you'll be setting fence posts and mixing concrete. Other days you'll be framing a deck, demolishing an old one, or hauling a truckload of lumber across a backyard in the Alabama heat. If you like to go home tired, sore, and proud of what you built, you'll fit right in. If you're after an easy job or a slow, quiet gig — this isn't it.
I can train the skills — I can't train this: I'll teach you to swing a hammer, set a post, and build a deck that lasts. What I can't teach you is showing up on time, working hard, and taking pride in the result. That part's on you. If this sounds like you, keep reading:
- Your positive attitude is unwavering.
- You show up every day, on time, ready to work.
- You like working hard — being challenged, sweating, and leaving after a long day with a sense of accomplishment.
- You take pride in doing it right, even when nobody's watching.
- You're coachable and hungry to learn.
- You'd rather be outside getting stronger than shriveling behind a desk.
- You treat other people's property like it's your own.
What you'll be doing: This is a build-first job — most of your days are carpentry:
- Building and repairing decks, fences, porches, and patios
- Setting posts, mixing and carrying concrete, framing, fastening, and demoing old structures
- Hauling and moving lumber, materials, and equipment around the job site
- Some exterior painting, staining, and sealing mixed in when the schedule calls for it
- Keeping the site clean, safe, and squared away
- Learning real carpentry hands-on, straight from the owner
What's in it for you:
- $20–$25/hour depending on what you bring — we pay for ability, not just years on a résumé
- Paid to learn a real trade — trade and business skills you can build a career on
- A real growth path — prove yourself and grow into steady hours, full-time, and lead carpenter
- Pay for performance — do great work, earn more
- Quarterly profit sharing — when the crew wins, you win
- Tools provided — just bring yourself ready to work
- Get in early on a growing crew — a real voice and a real path up, not a number on a giant payroll
What I need from you (non-negotiable basics):
- Reliable transportation to job sites across Mobile County
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and do challenging physical work outdoors, in the heat, the cold, and the rain, year-round
- Dependable, drug-free, and ready to give an honest day's work
How to apply — read this part carefully: I read every single application, and the first thing I'm checking is whether you pay attention to detail — same as I would on a job site.
- Reply to my first message with the word HAMMER.
- In one or two sentences, tell me about the proudest moment of your life.
Applications that skip these two steps go to the bottom of the pile. The ones that follow them go to the top.
If you're the right person, I'll know it fast — and so will you. Let's build something.
