About the practice
Golden State Hearing Aid Center is an independent, family-rooted hearing practice in Modesto with more than 50 years of history serving the Central Valley. We hold a 5.0-star Google rating across 115+ reviews, and we've built that reputation on one thing: doing the clinical work right, every time.
We are not a chain. There are no corporate sales quotas, no discount-of-the-month promotions, and no pressure to fit patients into a script. Our flagship Golden Standard Hearing Care™ program is built around verified outcomes: Real Ear Measurement on every fitting, structured follow-up care, and honest recommendations.
About the role
The practice owner, a licensed dispenser who has run the fitting room personally, is stepping into a full-time business operations role. You will become the primary clinical provider for an established practice with a 3,300-patient database, strong inbound demand, and full front-desk support. This is a rare setup: you inherit a trusted brand, a loyal patient base, and one of the best-equipped fitting rooms in the region, without the risk of building a practice from scratch.
You'll work directly with the owner during onboarding and have ongoing mentorship and support. The fitting room, though, will be yours.
What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations using our 90-minute protocol, including audiometric testing, otoscopy, and QuickSIN speech-in-noise testing
- Recommend and fit hearing instruments, with Real Ear Measurement verification on every fitting, no exceptions
- Take digital ear impressions with Otoscan 3D scanning (no silicone unless you want to)
- Deliver structured follow-up care under the Golden Standard Hearing Care™ program
- Counsel patients and families on hearing loss, expectations, and aural rehabilitation
- Perform in-office service: cleanings, minor repairs, verification checks, and troubleshooting
- Document thoroughly in our patient management system
- Help maintain the patient experience that drives our 5.0-star reputation
The clinical setup you'll walk into
- Aurical PMM for Real Ear Measurement
- Otometrics Otoscan 3D ear scanner
- Hearing instrument test box for verification
- QuickSIN and full diagnostic protocol
- 90-minute evaluation appointments. You will never be forced to rush a patient.
Schedule
Monday through Thursday. Four-day work week, every week. Three-day weekends are standard here, not a perk we dangle.
Compensation
$55,000 to $65,000 per year base salary, plus uncapped commission on hearing instrument fittings. Realistic first-year total earnings of $85,000 to $100,000 for a capable provider, with room to grow well beyond that as the practice grows. Written, transparent performance expectations from day one. You will always know exactly where you stand.
What we're looking for
- Active California Hearing Aid Dispenser license (required), or California licensure eligibility with dispensing experience
- Genuine warmth with patients. Most of our patients are older adults, and how you make them feel matters as much as how you program their devices.
- Commitment to verification-based fitting. If you believe first-fit is good enough, this isn't the practice for you. If you've always wanted to practice with REM on every fitting, you'll love it here.
- Ownership mentality: you treat the patient base and the practice's reputation as your own
- Comfort on the phone; you'll occasionally follow up with patients directly
- Experience preferred, but attitude and clinical integrity matter more than years
Our hiring process
We respect your time and we're direct: a phone conversation, an in-person interview at the practice, and a paid working trial so we can both confirm the fit before either of us commits. Clear written expectations come with the offer, not after.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed with your resume and a short note telling us about a fitting you're proud of and what made it work.
