Senior Caregiver (RCFE) – Job Summary

At Home Comfort Assisted Living is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Senior Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to elderly residents in a warm, home-like environment. The ideal candidate is dedicated to preserving each resident's dignity, independence, comfort, and quality of life while delivering personalized care with kindness and respect.

As a Senior Caregiver, you will assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), medication assistance (as permitted by California RCFE regulations), companionship, meal assistance, mobility support, and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming living environment. You will work closely with the Administrator and healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centered care to elderly residents.
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
Bathing
Dressing
Grooming
Personal hygiene
Toileting and incontinence care
Mobility and transfers
Assist residents with ambulation using walkers, wheelchairs, gait belts, or other mobility devices.
Observe residents for changes in physical, emotional, or mental condition and promptly report concerns to the Administrator.
Assist with medication reminders and medication assistance in accordance with California RCFE regulations and facility policies.
Prepare, serve, and assist residents with meals and hydration while monitoring dietary needs and physician-ordered diets.
Encourage resident independence while providing appropriate supervision and support.
Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident care, observations, incidents, and daily activities.
Ensure resident rooms and common areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
Follow infection control procedures, universal precautions, and proper hand hygiene.
Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies, including medical emergencies, falls, fire drills, and disaster situations.
Maintain resident confidentiality and protect resident rights at all times.
Work collaboratively with the Administrator, healthcare providers, families, hospice staff, and fellow caregivers.
Follow California Title 22 regulations, RCFE policies, and all state licensing requirements.
Perform housekeeping and laundry related to resident care.
Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and continuing education.

Qualifications & Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience as a caregiver, CNA, Home Care Aide, Assisted Living Caregiver, Memory Care Caregiver, or similar healthcare role preferred.
Experience working with seniors, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, or hospice care is highly desirable.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Current TB clearance.
Live Scan fingerprint clearance (or ability to obtain before employment).
Home Care Aide Registration (preferred if applicable).
Ability to successfully complete all RCFE required training.
Knowledge of resident rights and California Title 22 regulations is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely assist with resident transfers.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and assist residents throughout the shift.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an RCFE, Assisted Living Facility, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Memory Care, Home Care, or Hospice.
Medication Technician or Medication Assistance experience.
Dementia Care training.
Hospice care experience.
Experience with electronic documentation systems.
