BACKGROUND:
Rubicon Water has a vision to sustainably increase global food and fibre production through improved water use efficiency. We do this by delivering advanced technology to managers of gravity fed irrigation networks, enabling them to manage their water resources with unprecedented levels of efficiency and control. Our products allow irrigation authorities as well as farmers control and monitoring of their on-farm and off-farm infrastructures.
The Field Technician I role at Rubicon Water is an entry-level position focused on developing foundational technical skills and supporting field operations under close supervision. This position is a critical part of Rubicon’s commitment to operational excellence, helping to install, maintain, and repair advanced water management systems while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Field Technician I contributes to team effectiveness by gaining hands-on experience in problem-solving, safety practices, and customer service. Technicians are expected to advance to Field Technician II within 6-12 months as they achieve greater independence in field operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Rubicon and third-party equipment under supervision.
· Support in-shop equipment assembly and inventory management tasks.
· Perform routine maintenance tasks and document activities accurately.
- Vehicle and Tool Maintenance:
· Ensure proper use, care, and upkeep of company-assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment in accordance with Rubicon’s standards.
· Report any issues or required repairs promptly to supervisors.
· Maintain an organized and well-stocked vehicle to support field operations efficiently.
- Safety and Protocol Adherence:
· Learn and follow Rubicon's safety standards (OHS and QA) during all field and shop operations.
· Participate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a culture of safety.
- Learning and Development:
· Gain comprehensive knowledge of Rubicon's water management products, systems, and field operations.
· Actively engage in technical and safety training sessions.
· Represent Rubicon professionally on job sites and assist in maintaining positive customer relationships.
· Ensure customer satisfaction by adhering to quality and service standards.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (prior hands-on experience is beneficial).
- Familiarity with basic safety protocols in technical or field operations including a good level of competence in using tools, equipment, and software relevant to field tasks.
- Person must be 21 years of age or older.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor settings in both hot and cold climates.
· Able to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, walking on uneven terrain, driving long distances, and lifting heavy loads (up to 50 lbs).
Must be capable of wearing a respirator and other PPE as required for specific tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment will range greatly in this position from office and warehouse environments, to field work outside. This will include exposure to the elements (heat, rain, wind, etc), as well as heavy lifting to assemble, load and unload products for shipping.
The position will require interstate travel approximately 20-30% of the time and can be sporadic at times.
