Energy Renewal Partners (ERP) is seeking qualified Biological Field Technicians for future renewable energy project opportunities throughout the United States.
At ERP, we partner with developers, utilities, landowners, and regulatory agencies to advance energy projects that support a sustainable energy future. Our team of environmental professionals provides permitting, compliance, siting, biological resources consulting, and environmental monitoring services for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure, and wind energy development projects.

About the Role
The Biological Field Technician will support biological resource surveys, environmental monitoring, wildlife studies, and permitting efforts associated with renewable energy development projects. Assignments may support utility-scale solar, wind energy, transmission, battery storage, and other energy related projects throughout the United States.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct wildlife, avian, bat, vegetation, habitat, and other biological resource surveys in support of renewable energy projects.
- Perform fatality monitoring and wildlife use surveys associated with operating wind energy facilities.
- Conduct field investigations to identify and document wildlife species, habitat conditions, vegetation communities, wetlands, and other environmental resources.
- Collect accurate field data using GPS units, mobile data collection platforms, cameras, binoculars, range finders, and other field equipment.
- Support environmental permitting and compliance activities by documenting field conditions and preparing survey reports.
- Assist with implementation of biological monitoring plans, environmental mitigation measures, and agency-required survey protocols.
- Maintain field equipment and ensure proper operation of data collection tools.
- Follow established safety procedures and participate in ERP safety training and compliance programs.
- Coordinate with project managers, biologists, environmental scientists, landowners, and client representatives.
- Maintain detailed field notes and ensure data quality and accuracy throughout project assignments.
- Operate company or personal vehicles in remote field environments while adhering to company safety policies.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism while working independently and as part of a field team.
Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology, Wildlife Management, Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field preferred; current students and recent graduates with relevant field experience are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to work independently and professionally with project managers, biologists, technicians, clients, contractors, and landowners.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow survey protocols and data collection procedures.
- Experience using GPS units, topographic maps, compasses, and other field equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and collect precise field data.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely in remote field environments and challenging weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass client-required background checks and site-specific safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting avian, bat, wildlife, vegetation, wetland, or habitat surveys.
- Familiarity with renewable energy projects including wind, solar, battery storage, and transmission development.
- Bird identification skills and familiarity with regional wildlife species.
- Experience identifying bat species and wildlife signs using field guides and identification keys.
- Experience with GIS, ArcGIS, GPS mapping, or mobile field data collection applications.
- Knowledge of federal and state wildlife regulations, including the Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
- Previous environmental consulting or natural resources field experience.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications.
Travel Requirements
This position may require extensive travel and overnight field assignments throughout the United States. Project assignments may vary in duration and may involve working in remote locations under varying environmental and weather conditions.
Candidates should be comfortable performing fieldwork that includes:
- Hiking long distances across uneven terrain.
- Working in extreme temperatures, high winds, rain, snow, and other challenging environmental conditions.
- Operating in remote locations with limited access to services.
- Performing physically demanding work for extended periods while carrying field equipment.

Compensation and Benefits
This is an hourly based position. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, project requirements, certifications, and market conditions.
