As an Inside Service Representative I at Super-Sod, you'll be the face of our brand, providing exceptional customer service to both residential and professional landscaping customers. From greeting walk-ins to processing orders, assisting with product inquiries, and helping maintain a clean and welcoming storefront, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every customer has a positive, helpful experience. The Inside Service Representative I interact face-to-face with new and existing customers (both landscapers and residential) while providing exceptional customer service within a retail environment.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Greets customers as they enter the Super-Sod stores.

Operates curbside, counter sales and on the yard as needed.

Collects information specific to the customers' lawn care needs both in-person and over the phone; directs request to appropriate turfgrass professional.

Processes orders using Point of Sale system.

Assist customers with questions relating to delivery, availability or price discrepancies.

Ensures accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift.

Works closely with Store Managers, Inside Sales Representatives, and Loaders to provide optimal customer service internally and externally.

Communicates with Company Call Center and Service team members through digital internal communications boards.

Responds to requests from customers and assists with operational demonstration and handling products weighing up to 50 pounds.

Processes product returns and reimbursements according to Company policy and standard operating procedures.

Identifies prices and services and tabulates requested quotes using internal pricing software.

Communicates with members of other nodes to effectively support customer service and experience.

Keeps management informed of all activity, including timely preparation of reports.

Maintains storefront, displays and inside working areas to ensure workspaces are clean and accessible by employees and customers.

Responsible for upholding a safe culture and work environment at the location.

Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

Competencies

Excellent customer service skills.

Good verbal communication skills.

Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.

Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.

Knowledgeable about company's products and services, and customer-related policies.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position requires no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, digital filing systems and payment processing machines. The employee will be expected to work outside in all weather conditions and must have suitable clothing. They must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed spaces and heights up to 8 feet. The employee will be expected to work around and with machinery that distributes loud noises and exhaust. Personal Protective gear is provided by the employer. This position does require handling and operating of heavy equipment which may introduce a high risk to slips, trips and falls.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, lift, push, pull, stoop, or bend. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This employee requires full range of motion of arms and legs and requires movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity and coordination. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Store Manager or Regional Director; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday work is required only as job duties demand throughout harvesting season (typically March-September from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

Travel

This position requires little to no travel time.

Required Education and Experience

High school degree and business discipline.

Customer Service experience.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.

Additional education in turf management, horticulture, or similar field of study.

Bilingual skills in English / Spanish are a big plus.
