Full Job Description

Job Summary: Function as a member of the healthcare team performing clinical duties that are required for proper patient evaluation and care. Schedule procedures as requested by the physician or physician assistant.

Education and Experience:
o High school diploma or GED completion is required
o CPR or the equivalent is required
o Certification or diploma from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years of experience is required.
o Proficient in medical terminology, including but not limited to medication names

Requirements:
o Present a friendly, courteous, and helpful image in all interactions to create a positive work environment o Ability to understand common drug names o Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations o Express good time management, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization o Communicate clearly and effectively with providers, coworkers, and patients o Meet and exceed short and long-term goals as established for the department o Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in the department's efficiency and services performed o Adhere to company policies and procedures o Model and encourage behavior consistent with the company's mission statement o Ability to work under pressure without continual supervision
Current Medical Assistant Certification required
Essential Job Duties:

o Collect data concerning the physical status of the patient
o Obtain vital signs of patients
o Assist providers with procedures
o Administer injections as prescribed by the provider
o Order patient labs, imaging, and procedures as requested by the provider
o Answer phones, create note as needed and route appropriately
o Process Hemoccult cards
o Review, document, and update patient information in the EMR, including but not limited to ROS and medications
o Schedule office visits and procedures appropriately (phone calls with patients)
o Review, evaluate and qualify patients for Direct Procedure Scheduling (DPS)

Working Conditions:
o Varied activities include but are not limited to walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting
o Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
o Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye coordination
o Ability to use an array of office equipment, including a computer, copier, multi-line telephone, etc.
o May on occasion require light lifting of no greater than 50 pounds
o Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
o Requires working under stressful conditions and may need to work irregular hours at times
o May have exposure to patients with infectious diseases
o This position is essential and may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency, and other work closures.
