Job Type: Full-Time (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) IN-PERSON
Reports To: Billing Supervisor/Practice Manager
Compensation: Based on experience

Overview

We are seeking an experienced detail-oriented, dependable and highly organized Medical Biller to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for medical billing operations, ensuring timely and accurate coding, corrections, and appeal processing of insurance claims and patient accounts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with healthcare insurance regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work effectively within a medical office environment.

Duties

Review insurance denials and underpayments; determine root causes and take corrective action
Ensure accuracy in coding dermatology procedures and diagnoses using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
Prepare and submit timely appeals with supporting documentation.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve outstanding issues.
Interpret Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve discrepancies.
Communicate with patients regarding questions related to their bills, insurance coverages, and balances, and payment plans.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, including appeals and re-filings
Maintain organized and detailed records of claim activity and resolution.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer guidelines, billing regulations and coding policies.
Training will be completed upon hire.

Experience

Experience in medical practices and/or dermatology.
Proven experience/certifications in medical billing.
Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance verification.
Strong understanding of insurance guidelines, EOBs, and dermatology-specific coding.
Proficient in reading and interpreting EOBs and insurance communications.
Experience with EHR and billing systems.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards.
In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier usage in dermatology.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume setting.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
