Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Painter to oversee and execute high-quality painting projects across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. As a pivotal team leader, you will coordinate painting crews, ensure safety compliance, and deliver exceptional results that enhance and restore properties. Your expertise in various painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing will drive the success of our projects while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead by example and shape the visual transformation of diverse environments.

Duties

Lead and supervise painting crews on multiple projects, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to specifications
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine scope of work and required materials
Prepare surfaces thoroughly through sanding, plastering, caulking, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion
Apply paints using hand tools, power tools, conventional spray systems, or airless paint sprayers for residential, commercial, or industrial projects
Conduct construction site assessments to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety regulations including respiratory protection protocols
Manage material estimates for projects involving construction estimating skills; order supplies as needed
Perform quality control inspections using visual color comparison and other techniques to ensure color consistency and finish quality
Coordinate fixture installation, renovation work, or restoration efforts as part of comprehensive project execution
Maintain detailed documentation including project plans, schematics, safety logs, and progress reports

Qualifications

Proven experience in construction painting with a strong background in residential, commercial, and industrial projects
Skilled in construction site experience including blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and surface preparation standards
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, airless paint spraying equipment, welding equipment (optional), and other relevant tools of the trade
Knowledge of safety regulations related to construction painting including respiratory protection measures
Strong understanding of color theory for accurate color matching and visual color comparison skills
Experience with renovation projects such as stucco application, plastering, masonry work, caulking, trim carpentry, fixture installation, framing carpentry, drywall finishing or restoration work preferred
Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and estimates; familiarity with schematics beneficial
Excellent leadership skills with handyman experience or previous supervisory roles in construction painting preferred
Physical ability to stand for long periods; lift heavy materials; work at heights; use scaffolding or ladders safely
