LICENSED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (RRT/LRT)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Licensed Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to providing high-quality respiratory care, possesses excellent critical thinking skills, and thrives in a collaborative healthcare environment. This position works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, and educate patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.

Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques.

Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis as appropriate.

Set up, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation equipment.

Respond to respiratory emergencies, rapid response calls, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Code Blue) events.

Perform EKGs, pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic procedures as assigned.

Assist with airway management, intubation support, and ventilator weaning protocols.

Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, medications, breathing treatments, and home respiratory equipment.

Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and responses in the electronic medical record.

Inspect, clean, and maintain respiratory equipment according to hospital and manufacturer guidelines.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
-
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.

Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications preferred or obtained within the required timeframe.

Previous hospital or acute care respiratory therapy experience preferred.

Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills.

Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

WHAT TO EXPECT
-
A fast-paced hospital environment providing respiratory care to patients across multiple departments, including the Emergency Department, ICU, Medical-Surgical Unit, and Women's Services.

Twelve-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as needed.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and transporting respiratory equipment throughout the shift.

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, airborne illnesses, and other healthcare-related hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.

Ability to respond quickly to respiratory emergencies throughout the hospital.

Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and any applicable health screenings.
