Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in CNC machining, programming, and precision measurement, with a strong background in metal and plastics machining. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment, including CNC lathes, mills, and coordinate measuring machines, in a fast-paced production environment. The Senior CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and inspecting complex machining processes to ensure high-quality output aligned with engineering specifications and blueprints.

Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate CNC machines including lathes, mills, and grinders using Fanuc controls and G-code/M-code programming.
Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
Utilize CAD software such as SolidWorks and general CAM programming to develop machining strategies.
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools for quality control.
Conduct machine setup including tooling selection, fixture installation, and calibration to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, machine operation, or programming errors; perform manual machining when necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to safety protocols including welding and plastics injection molding procedures.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications for precise manufacturing.
Assist in training junior machinists and operators on advanced machining techniques and equipment operation.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing processes for efficiency and waste reduction.

Experience

Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with advanced knowledge of CNC programming (Fanuc preferred) and machine setup.
Strong background in metal machining as well as plastics injection molding processes.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAM programming tools.
Skilled in blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, GD&T standards, and precision measurement instruments including micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and CMMs.
Familiarity with manual machining techniques using hand tools, power tools, lathes, mills, grinders, and welding equipment.
Knowledge of M-code programming for CNC operations along with basic math skills relevant to manufacturing tolerances.
Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus.
Experience working within lean manufacturing environments is desirable.
