Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The Staff Physician of Primary Health Services Center is charged with providing direct patient care as well as a leadership example in all areas relating to the clinical operations of the health center. The Staff Physician is responsible for assisting with the implementation of clinical policies and procedures; supervising the clinical mid-level, nursing and support staff; insuring continuous quality improvement in all clinical activities; and acting as an integral part of the healthcare team of the health center.

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in Collaborative Agreements with mid-level providers.

2. Participate in on-call rotation for after hours, holidays and weekend call.

3. Provide direct patient care and be eligible for enrollment in Medicare, Medicaid and

private insurances.

4. Maintains licenses in good standing in the state of Louisiana.

5. Assist with organizing the clinical staff and resources in carrying out the healthcare

program of Primary Health Services Center.

6. Record all patient care in medical records.

7. Participate in monthly Peer-Review.

8. Serve as the Team Leader in initiating care to critical ill patients, etc., Cardiac or

Respiratory arrest.

9. Provide recommendations and feedback for end of probation and annual employee

evaluations of clinical staff members.

10. Serve as a role model for clinical staff.

11. Maintain good standing for continuation of hospital privileges as determined by the

hospital and provide in-patient care as needed.

12. Make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer regarding the purchase of

equipment and supplies needed to provide patient care.

13. Maintain CMEs for licensure as required by the Board of Medical Examiners.

14. Participate in quality improvement activities to direct the formal quality assurance

activities of the organization.

15. Document care utilizing diagnosis Codes, SOAP and initiation of a Treatment Plan.

16. Review patient laboratory test results.

17. Participates in data collection for annual federal grant request and other grant

applications.

18. Monitor direct patient care to identify earl opportunities for improvement.

19. Work with the staff of the health care center in such a manner as to earn their

confidence and respect.

20. Comply with applicable law and fully compliant and cooperate with PHSC’s Compliance

Program.

21. Any other assignments deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine.

2. Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana.

3. Current Louisiana controlled dangerous substance license.

4. Current DEA member.

5. Current Medicaid number.

6. Current Medicare number.

7. Reasoning Ability.

8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

9. Must be certified in Basic and Advanced Life Support techniques.

10. Profession and personal qualities which permits the physician to work with staff of the health center in a manner as to earn their confidence and respect.

11. Standing, bending, stooping, lifting, positioning, and sight, auditory, tactile, and olfactory senses.
