KITCHEN DESIGNER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Kitchen Designer is responsible for designing functional, visually appealing, and customer-focused kitchen spaces while supporting the successful execution of residential remodeling projects from concept through installation. This role works closely with homeowners, sales teams, project managers, and production teams to develop kitchen layouts, cabinetry plans, material selections, and design solutions that align with customer vision, operational requirements, and project budgets. The Kitchen Designer leverages strong CAD experience and technical drafting expertise to create accurate renderings, layouts, and technical drawings while helping guide customers through the design and selection process. OBJECTIVES
- Meet with homeowners to understand project goals, lifestyle needs, aesthetic preferences, space requirements, and renovation expectations
- Develop kitchen layouts, cabinetry plans, elevations, renderings, and technical drawings using CAD software and design platforms
- Create functional and visually appealing kitchen designs that align with customer budgets, construction feasibility, and operational requirements
- Guide customers through material selections including cabinetry, countertops, hardware, fixtures, finishes, and related design elements
- Prepare accurate design documentation, specifications, scope details, measurements, and project information for estimating and production teams
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and installation teams to support smooth project execution from design through completion
- Conduct site visits and field measurements to ensure design accuracy, installation readiness, and project feasibility
- Revise designs and layouts based on customer feedback, operational considerations, and project adjustments as needed
- Maintain organized project files, CAD drawings, design revisions, customer communication, and selection documentation
- Support showroom presentation, design consultations, and customer engagement activities that contribute to project conversion and business growth
- Stay current on kitchen design trends, cabinetry products, remodeling materials, and space-planning best practices
- Maintain professionalism, responsiveness, creativity, and strong communication throughout all customer and team interactions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree or coursework in Interior Design, Kitchen & Bath Design, Architecture, Drafting, or related field preferred
- Experience in kitchen design, interior design, cabinetry sales, remodeling design, or related residential construction environments preferred
- Experience using CAD software, drafting platforms, and kitchen design software required
- Strong CAD drafting and technical drawing experience required
- Knowledge of cabinetry construction, kitchen layouts, remodeling workflows, and residential construction processes preferred
- Experience conducting customer consultations, material selections, and design presentations preferred
- Strong understanding of space planning, measurements, and installation coordination preferred
- Experience collaborating with project managers, contractors, installers, or remodeling teams considered an asset
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple active design projects simultaneously required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods while preparing CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, and project documentation
- Ability to travel occasionally to customer homes, project sites, showrooms, and meetings as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and take field measurements during onsite consultations and project walkthroughs
- Ability to occasionally lift design samples, material boards, catalogs, or project materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, customer meetings, and communication activities within a fast-paced remodeling environment
