Full Job Description

Job Title: Quality Manager

Reports To: Director of Operations

Normal Shift / Working Hours: Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekends may be required as deemed necessary by departmental demands. This is an on-site position with occasional travel for supplier audits or customer visits (<10%)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our quality assurance operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This key leadership role is responsible for maintaining our ISO 9001 compliance, implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and building a culture of quality excellence throughout our manufacturing operations.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Quality Management System (QMS)

· Manage and continuously improve our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System

· Lead internal audits and prepare for external surveillance and recertification audits

· Maintain document control, calibration records, and quality documentation

· Oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes

· Conduct management review meetings and report quality metrics to leadership

Continuous Improvement

· Lead Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance quality

· Apply DMAIC methodology to solve complex quality problems

· Implement and sustain 5S and other lean manufacturing principles

· Track and report Cost of Quality (COQ) metrics

· Facilitate value stream mapping and process improvement initiatives

Leadership & Operations

· Build, train, and lead the quality team including inspectors and quality technicians

· Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to balance quality with delivery

· Manage supplier quality, including approved vendor list and incoming inspection

· Handle customer quality complaints and lead root cause analysis

· Develop and deliver quality training programs for shop floor personnel

· Ensure quality standards are maintained across all shifts

Compliance & Documentation

· Maintain First Article Inspection (FAI) processes

· Oversee PPAP, and FMEA documentation as required

· Ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements

· Manage nonconformance reporting and material review board (MRB) activities

Experience: Five+ years as a Quality Manager or related experience in a manufacturing environment.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Specialized Skills, Training or Abilities:

· Proficiency with quality tools: SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, Gage R&R, FMEA

· Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills

· Experience with inspection equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.)

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software

Leadership

· Proven ability to lead teams and drive change in a manufacturing environment

Communication

Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Lean Six Sigma Belt certification

· ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

· Experience in sheet metal fabrication, aerospace, or defense manufacturing

· AS9100 or IATF 16949 experience

· Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems

· Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a fabrication environment.

· Familiarity with various materials and their machining properties.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

· Heavy focused on safety

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both an office and a production plant environment with limited exposure to elements such as dust, noise, fumes or temperature changes.
