JOB SUMMARY: Job Summary:
PLEASE NOTE: This position includes 4 generous quarterly bonuses.
The clinical medical assistant will assist the physician/PA-C/NP with patient care and scribing visits. They will create an atmosphere reflecting a standard of excellence that patients expect to receive from Pure Dermatology. The physician/PA-C/NP entrust the goodwill of patients to the assistant, therefore extending the physician’s relationship with the patient. In addition in some instances, the medical assistant may also flex to supportive roles with the front office and cosmetic medical team.
To be successful in this position, the assistant must be cheerful, friendly, polite, tactful, and professional in both appearance and manner at all times. They will be able to communicate with the physician and patient being mindful of patient confidentiality. They will be able to evaluate and respond to a patient’s needs and relay the doctor’s instructions. The successful medical assistant will be a team player and respectful of their co-workers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
As assigned but not limited to the following:
§ Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, assist physician with patient care.
§ Manage patient flow according to protocol.
§ Escort patient to and from exam room, help patient prepare for exam.
§ Initial EMR intake including CC/HPI/ROS/Medications/Allergies.
§ PE and Impression/Plan coordination with Physician.
§ Assist Physician in reviewing appropriate patient education.
§ Assist Physician with biopsies/surgeries
ü Tray and room set up, pre-biopsy photo, blotting, suture cutting, bandaging
ü Follow specimen handling protocol
§ Assist Physician with neurotoxins and dermal fillers
ü Pre and post treatment photos
ü Confirmation of treatment plan and products
ü Accurate preparation of neurotoxin and filler
§ Upkeep and cleanliness of exam rooms. Cabinets/mayo stand always well stocked.
§ Maintain infection control and hazardous chemical safety protocols.
§ Be familiar and compliant with OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen standards.
§ Respond to patient questions in office and on phone in a timely manner.
§ Send prescriptions and refills to pharmacy according to protocol.
§ Schedule work-in and urgent appointments.
§ EMA management: Pathology log, prescription requests, documentation.
§ Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
§ Clean and sterilize medical equipment and instruments according to protocol.
§ Keep appropriate records of maintenance.
§ Prepare pathology specimens for send out according to protocol.
§ Obtain prior authorization for procedures and/or medications.
§ Be knowledgeable and compliant of HIPPA privacy standards.
§ Be knowledgeable of all products and procedures in office and be able to explain both to patients.
§ Be knowledgeable of office financial policies and fees.
§ Communicate with drug representatives for product education, coupons, etc.
§ Enter and manage patients in Brilliant Distinctions program.
§ Help with office housekeeping duties as directed.
§ Enter and manage Isotretinoin treatments
v Participation as a designee in the iPledge system
· Each medical assistant is required to register with the iPledge program obtaining a unique username and password.
· Medical assistants and providers are required to annually review The Guide to Best Practices for the iPledge program.
· The medical assistant will perform the following tasks on behalf of the provider:
ü Accurately register new patients
ü Maintain active patients program status
ü Enter valid pregnancy test results
ü Confirm patient counseling
ü Discontinue patients
ü Manage active designees
Additional Duties:
- Welcome patients and visitors by graciously greeting them in person or on the telephone
- Optimize patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties or questions
- Ensure availability of treatment information by scanning and naming patient records
- Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
- Maintain business office inventory and equipment
- Maintain protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines
- Maintain business operations by following policies and procedures
- Master new technologies and online practices to streamline patient care, such as mastering online bill pay, patient portals, EMR Intramail, online forms, and patient kiosk'
