Hydrometrics, Inc. is seeking a Project Geochemist or Senior Geochemist with 5–15 years of experience to join our team in Helena, Montana. What You Will Do...
- Lead and support geochemical evaluations for mining, water resources, industrial, and environmental projects.
- Plan, implement, manage, and provide technical oversight for site investigations in cooperation with other science, engineering, and field services staff, including monitoring and characterization of groundwater, surface water, soils, geological materials, and wastes.
- Manage, validate, review, analyze, interpret, and present water quality and other geochemical data, including statistical and graphical analyses.
- Develop and refine aqueous geochemical models, including geochemical aspects of conceptual site models and contaminant fate and transport aspects of groundwater and surface water flow and mixing models.
- Prepare and review field sampling plans, quality assurance project plans, data quality and validation reports, project summary reports, technical memoranda, and other client deliverables in an efficient and effective manner and in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and requirements.
- Work collaboratively with hydrogeologists, hydrologists, engineers, and project managers, and mentor junior technical staff as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For...
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Geochemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field with a focus on aqueous/environmental geochemistry.
- 5–15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in geochemical field data collection, site investigations and characterization, environmental geochemistry, data interpretation and analysis, and geochemical modeling.
- Knowledge of physical and chemical hydrology and hydrogeology concepts and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, and communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
- Experience with database, data management, and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, EnviroData, R, ProUCL).
- Experience with water quality and geochemical modeling codes (e.g., Geochemist’s Workbench, PHREEQC).
- Proficiency in technical/scientific writing, graphics preparation, and technical presentations with continuous attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully manage tasks independently, collaborate across project teams, and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Ability to travel occasionally to project locations for client meetings and/or to conduct or supervise field work.
- U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, valid driver’s license and safe driving record, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000–$130,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, technical expertise, and project responsibilities
