As a Cemetery Grounds Technician, you will play an essential role in maintaining the beauty of our historic cemetery while helping ensure every burial and memorial service is conducted with the utmost care and respect.

Requirements Conditions of Employment: * Subject to a background/security investigation. * Designated and/or random drug testing maybe required. * Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. * You may be required to serve a probationary period.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare sites for interments and entombments
- Assist with funeral and committal services in a respectful and professional manner
- Operate cemetery equipment including tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, and other grounds maintenance equipment
- Perform mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, mulching, planting, and seasonal landscape maintenance
- Perform minor repairs to cemetery facilities and equipment
- Install memorial foundations
- Straighten and level memorial markers and monuments
- Perform snow and ice removal during winter months
- Set up tents, chairs, lowering devices, and other equipment for burial services
- Maintain cemetery roads, buildings, mausoleums, and public areas
- Safely use hand tools and power equipment while following all safety procedures
- Work collaboratively with office staff, funeral directors, contractors, and fellow team members
- Help maintain the peaceful, park-like appearance that families expect from Rosedale Cemetery
- Interact with visitors and provide guidance or assistance as needed
Qualifications
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related outdoor maintenance roles preferred
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, landscape maintenance practices, lawn care techniques, and horticulture principles
- Ability to operate ground maintenance equipment including power tools, chainsaws, mowers, and other landscaping machinery safely and effectively
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged outdoor activity in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for maintaining multiple areas efficiently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional and respectful when interacting with grieving families
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and respect
Physical Requirements: This position requires heavy physical effort with reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate the different sets of controls while operating the equipment and attachments. The Incumbent may be subjected to considerable strain caused by vibration, jerking, and jolting of the equipment over rough surfaces and the need to operate controls in awkward positions. Heavy effort is frequently exercised when performing duties such as tamping, carrying caskets, lifting/moving grave. This position requites the employee to lift weights up to50 lbs. Occasionally items weighing more than 50lbs are lifted with assistance from co-workers. Employee may be exposed to noise levels exceeding 85 dBA for up to eight (8) hours per day. This exposure may adversely affect hearing.
Working Conditions: Work must be performed out-doors and incumbent will be exposed to all types of weather throughout the year. Incumbent will be exposed to the sun, noise, extreme heat, and humidity, cold, snow, rain, wind, and is subject to dirt, dust, fumes (from motor and exhaust) mud, and water. Work is performed in areas where pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers are applied. Appropriate protective equipment will be worn. The operator is exposed to injury from mishaps that may be involved in the operation of grounds maintenance equipment. Selected applicants will be required to complete additional onboarding processes.

- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Local Resident (preferred)
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- Landscaping
- Grounds maintenance
- Construction
- Excavation
- Heavy equipment operation
- Masonry
- Carpentry
- Mechanical repair
- Cemetery or memorial park operations
Work Schedule
- Tuesday through Saturday
- Overtime opportunities available
- Occasional holiday or emergency response coverage may be required to meet operational needs.
