Shape Australia’s Presence on the Global Stage

Join the Australian Mission to the United Nations in New York and play a key role in delivering Australia’s strategic engagement and public diplomacy agenda.

As Events Coordinator, you will be part of the Strategic Engagement team, working closely with Mission Executive support to coordinate high-profile events that advance Australia’s multilateral policy priorities and strengthen Australia’s brand and reputation across the UN community.

With primary responsibility for events hosted by the Australian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, including at the Official Residence, you will help deliver receptions, dinners, roundtables and other strategic engagements involving senior diplomats, UN officials and influential stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished events professional who combines exceptional organisation and attention to detail with creativity, discretion and confidence working with senior stakeholders.

Bring your events expertise to the heart of global diplomacy and help showcase Australia in New York.

Eligibility for employment for a foreign mission in the US – Visa and Citizenship Information
DO NOT APPLY FOR A VISA UNTIL ADVISED TO DO SO.

To work at the Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations, you must be:

A US citizen or US lawful permanent resident (green card holder) (18 years or older), or
In possession of a valid US Employment Authorisation Document (EAD), or
In possession of a G visa or eligible to apply for one (20 years or older), or
In possession of a derivative G visa and a registered member of the family (18 years or older) of a diplomat at the Australian Mission to the UN.

Those employees with a pathway to US permanent residency must take it up as soon as they become eligible.

Remuneration package

Salary

USD $74,743 – $84,122 New starters commence at base of salary range.

Performance Management

Locally engaged staff engaged in an ongoing or fixed term capacity who are employed on 31 March, have worked in the role for at least 100 working days and meet performance standards are eligible to receive a salary advancement OR a bonus if at the top of their level.

This position requires a satisfactory pre-employment check. Pre-employment checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. The inability to satisfy a pre-employment check prevents that applicant from being employed.
