Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Operations team. The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications while maintaining adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including cGMP, USP <795>, and USP <797> standards.

This role provides clinical oversight of medication therapy, performs order verification and dispensing activities, and supervises sterile compounding operations in a cleanroom environment. The Pharmacist works closely with pharmacy technicians, healthcare providers, and pharmacy leadership to ensure quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Review, interpret, and verify physician medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and accuracy.
Perform order entry, labeling, dispensing, and final verification of medications in accordance with pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate clinical and technical information with healthcare providers, patients, and pharmacy staff.
Supervise sterile compounding, packaging, and labeling activities performed by pharmacy personnel.
Ensure compliance with cGMP, USP <795>, USP <797>, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Maintain quality assurance documentation and support efficient production workflow within the cleanroom environment.
Ensure proper medication security, storage, handling, and recordkeeping.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
Assist with training, onboarding, and development of pharmacy staff.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
Current and active California Pharmacist license in good standing.
Eligibility for additional state licensure as required.
Minimum 1–3 years of pharmacy experience.

Preferred

At least 1 year of experience in a sterile compounding, alternate-site, infusion, or specialty pharmacy environment.
Experience working in USP <797> cleanroom operations.
Familiarity with cGMP standards and quality systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice and medication therapy management.
Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations.
Understanding of USP <795>, USP <797>, and cGMP requirements.
Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with pharmacy software and standard computer applications.
Ability to supervise and support pharmacy technicians and staff.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequent use of computers and pharmacy equipment.
Occasional lifting and moving of up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

On-site pharmacy and cleanroom environment.
Exposure to sterile compounding equipment and processes.
Potential exposure to hazardous drugs and chemicals while following established safety protocols and PPE requirements.
