Clinical Director

Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center (MPSC)
Full-Time, Salary-Exempt

At Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center (MPSC), we believe exceptional patient care starts with exceptional teams. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Director to join our leadership team and help guide the continued growth, excellence, and culture of our organization.

The Clinical Director is a key member of the MPSC leadership team and is responsible for providing clinical leadership, operational oversight, and team development across our perioperative services. This role is ideal for a nurse leader who is passionate about creating a positive workplace culture, developing others, improving processes, and ensuring every patient receives safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, relationship-focused leader with strong Operating Room and PACU experience who thrives in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment and is committed to supporting both our employees and the patients we serve.

Position Responsibilities

The Clinical Director will:

Provide leadership, direction, and support to clinical teams, including Operating Room, PACU, and perioperative services
Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement
Partner with physicians, administrative leadership, and department leaders to support safe and efficient patient care
Develop, mentor, and empower nurses and clinical team members through coaching, education, and professional growth opportunities
Oversee clinical operations to ensure compliance with AAAHC, CMS, state regulations, and organizational standards
Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and evidence-based practice
Assist with resource management and operational planning
Encourage employee engagement and retention through meaningful leadership and communication
Serve as a visible and approachable leader who builds trust and strong relationships throughout the organization

Required:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a supervisory or management role
Recent and demonstrated experience in both:
- Operating Room (OR) nursing
- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing
Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or perioperative environment strongly preferred
Strong understanding of surgical workflows, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
