School Psychologist — Travel & Local | 2026-2027 SY
Travel Pay Packages: $2,750-$3,200 gross weekly (estimated take-home comparable to $85-$105/hour salaried roles)
Local Pay Packages: $60-$80 per hour (for candidates living within 50 miles of the assignment)
Sevn Workforce Solutions is hiring in-person School Psychologists for K-12 districts nationwide for the 2026-2027 school year. School Psychs are among the hardest roles in education to fill, and districts are paying a premium for clinicians willing to go where the need is greatest. That demand is your leverage. We help you use it.
Why School Psychs Are Choosing Travel Contracts
- 40-65% more take-home pay than a traditional fully taxed W-2 district role. Same work, same students, much bigger paycheck.
- Tax-free housing and meal stipends lower your taxable income and raise your net pay. This is the engine behind the numbers above.
- A built-in adventure. Spend a school year near the coast, in the mountains, or in a city you've been curious about. Test drive a new place for nine months before you ever commit to moving there.
- Students who truly need you. Many of these districts have gone months without a psych. Evaluations are stacked up and timelines are slipping. Your impact is immediate and visible.
- A stronger resume. New districts, assessment batteries, eligibility frameworks, and student populations add real range to your skill set.
- Real balance. Monday-Friday schedule, school holidays, summers off, and time between assignments to recharge.
What You'd Own
Scope varies by district, and we'll tell you exactly what a role looks like before you ever interview. Most assignments include some mix of:
- Initial evaluations and triennial re-evaluations
- Cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral assessment
- Report writing and eligibility determination
- MDT and IEP team participation
- Consultation with teachers, administrators, and families
- IEP-mandated counseling minutes
- Behavior support, FBAs, and BIP development
- Crisis response and threat/risk assessment support
Some districts want an evaluation-heavy assignment to clear a backlog. Others want a full-service psych embedded in a building. Tell us which one you want, and we'll match you to it.
The 50 Mile Rule (You May Already Qualify)
You do not have to cross state lines to earn travel pay. If an assignment is more than 50 miles from your permanent residence, you could qualify as a traveler and become eligible for the tax-free stipends that make these packages so strong. That could mean three states away, or two hours from home in your own state. Plenty of our clinicians travel in-state and come home on weekends. Within 50 miles? You'd work it as a local contract at a strong hourly rate instead. We'll walk you through which path fits you.
Don't See Your Ideal Location? We Create It.
Most agencies only offer what's already posted. Through our Reverse Marketing Program, we work as your personal agent at no cost to you, contacting districts in your preferred location to build an opportunity around you.
- You're the only clinician presented. No competing against a stack of resumes.
- Interviews turn into offers fast. These districts need someone now.
- Pay is often higher than standard postings because the need is urgent.
