Summary This position provides general clerical work and administrative support for District Court following well-established procedures. This position is supervised by the District Court Administrator. The individual will possess the skills and technical expertise to provide assistance to the Criminal, Infraction and Civil Case Clerks as well as assistance to less-experienced staff. Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Serves as the primary department/office receptionist, explains detailed information about services and procedures and assists in resolving customer requests. 2. Opens and distributes the mail and all inter-office correspondence; distribute daily outgoing mail. 3. Prepare and distribute hearing notices at the counter after court proceedings. 4. Receipt daily payments and penalties in compliance with state audit regulations. 5. Process credit card payments as needed. 6. Responsible for case-related and office filings; assists with initial case filing and data entry. 7. Process clients after sentencing or findings. 8. Responsible for mandatory reporting requirements to various governmental agencies such as Department of Licensing Driving and Firearms Divisions, prohibition of firearms rights to various law enforcement agencies. 9. Respond to record request involving criminal cases; maintain a log of all requests and responses. 10. Process warrants of arrest including printings, recalls, recording and filing returns. 11. Verify community service hours; adjust compliance screens as necessary. 12. Act as courtroom clerk for hearings as needed. 13. Responsible for end-of-day cashier closeout in accordance with JIS computer system and state auditing procedures and take deposit to the bank. 14. Perform other duties as required at both court locations as court administration requires. 15. Process person and case information and update case records in computer system. 16. Scan and label digital files accurately and proficiently use court computer systems. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Two years of office experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the work. A valid Washington State driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must pass a criminal background check. Must be bondable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and the general public. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to learn and operate State computer system for Courts Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel. Skilled in the use of standard office machines and equipment; Skilled in attention to detail and accuracy. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with varying degrees of noise and temperament of people. Physical requirements include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, a sense of touch, finger dexterity, ability to grip with hands and fingers, ability to hear voice conversation, ability to speak and the ability to read existing records in their original and stored formats. Occasionally, there is a need to lift up to 20 lbs. Pay: $59,328.00 - $69,720.00 per year
