Job Summary
AJIN Electronic Components USA Inc. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented SMT Operator to join our manufacturing team in Selma, Alabama.
The SMT Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring Surface Mount Technology production equipment used to manufacture printed circuit board assemblies. This position includes machine setup, feeder loading, material verification, product changeover, quality inspection, production documentation, and basic troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in SMT, electronics manufacturing, machine operation, or production assembly. Candidates with general manufacturing experience who are willing to learn SMT equipment may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production equipment.
- Operate solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Load and replace component reels, feeders, trays, and other production materials.
- Verify part numbers, component polarity, feeder locations, and production work orders before starting production.
- Perform model changeovers and assist with machine setup adjustments.
- Monitor machine alarms and production conditions during operation.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment problems to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Conduct visual inspections of printed circuit boards and electronic components.
- Support AOI inspection, first-piece inspection, and in-process quality checks.
- Identify and report defects such as missing components, incorrect placement, damaged components, solder defects, or wrong materials.
- Complete production records, inspection records, downtime reports, and material usage documentation.
- Follow ESD requirements, work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S requirements.
- Assist with hand soldering, rework, assembly, packaging, or other production activities when necessary.
- Meet daily production, quality, and attendance expectations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the production supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous SMT Operator, electronics manufacturing, machine operator, or production experience preferred.
- Experience with pick-and-place machines, feeders, reflow ovens, AOI, PCB assembly, or soldering is a plus.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and production procedures.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Ability to identify component part numbers and verify production materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Ability to communicate basic production or quality issues to supervisors.
- Willingness to work overtime or different shifts when production requirements change.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
- Ability to use hands for loading components, operating equipment, inspection, and assembly work.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive manufacturing tasks safely.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment and ESD equipment.
Work Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Monday through Friday.
- First or second shift, depending on production requirements.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required.
Compensation
- Expected pay range: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on SMT experience and technical skills.
- Overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state law.

Preferred Experience
- SMT operation: 1 year preferred.
- Electronics manufacturing: 1 year preferred.
- Machine operation: 1 year preferred.
- AOI inspection, feeder setup, soldering, or PCB assembly experience is a plus.
Work Location
Selma, Alabama
This is an on-site manufacturing position. Remote work is not available.
