Avondale & Associates Psychological Services, LLC is seeking a master's-level professional with a strong interest in psychological testing and assessment to join our psychological testing team.
This position will work under the direct supervision and direction of a licensed psychologist and will provide support with psychological testing, test administration and scoring, organization of assessment data, clinical documentation, and preparation of psychological evaluation reports.
Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed psychologist with psychological testing and evaluation services.
- Administer and score standardized objective psychological tests as permitted by Alabama law and under the required level of supervision.
- Enter and organize test responses and scores.
- Assist with behavioral observations and collection of information as directed by the supervising psychologist.
- Prepare and format psychological evaluation reports for review, revision, and approval by the licensed psychologist.
- Assist with organizing clinical information and testing data for evaluation reports.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Maintain strict HIPAA confidentiality and follow all practice policies and procedures.
- Participate in required supervision and training.
- Perform only duties that are consistent with the employee's education, training, competence, and legal authority.
Psychological Technician Licensure Opportunity
For an applicant who meets the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology's educational and other eligibility requirements for Psychological Technician licensure, the practice will support the employee's pursuit of Psychological Technician licensure.
The practice intends to provide financial assistance toward the licensure process after the employee has successfully completed the initial employment period. The anticipated timeframe for this support is within approximately 6–12 months of employment, depending upon the employee's eligibility, completion of required materials, examination requirements, and processing by the Alabama Board.
Employment in this position does not guarantee eligibility for Psychological Technician licensure. Eligibility is determined by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in psychology or another master's degree that meets the applicable requirements for the duties being performed.
- Strong interest in psychological testing and assessment.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow standardized testing procedures.
- Ability to receive and implement clinical supervision and feedback.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle PHI.
- Professional, dependable, and organized.
- Willingness to work within the scope of education, training, supervision, and applicable Alabama law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate coursework or experience in psychological testing and assessment.
- Experience with psychological or psychoeducational testing.
- Experience with clinical report writing.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or forensic populations.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and psychological testing platforms.
Important Scope-of-Practice Statement
This position does not authorize the employee to practice independently as a psychologist or to represent themselves as a psychologist or Psychological Technician before obtaining the appropriate Alabama license. Duties will be assigned according to the employee's credentials and Alabama requirements.
The licensed psychologist will maintain responsibility for psychological assessment activities performed by technical and support staff under their supervision. Alabama rules specifically provide that the supervising psychologist is accountable for professional, ethical, and legal issues arising from the work of technical and support staff associated with psychological assessments.
The employee will not independently diagnose, conduct independent personality appraisal, provide clinical intervention, conduct independent forensic or neuropsychological evaluations, or perform other activities outside the employee's authorized scope.
