Full Job Description

CENTRAL ALABAMA AGING CONSORTIUM (CAAC) is a part of a state-wide aging network that provides a variety of Home and Community based services to the region’s senior and disabled populations and their caregivers. CAAC coordinates services for these targeted populations in Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery counties. The primary goal is to develop, coordinate, and support services in the community that promote an active and independent lifestyle where those we serve can live and thrive.

CAAC is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Director. This is a senior management position responsible for the administration, oversight, and evaluation of community-based programs within the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role ensures that all programs are delivered in alignment with organizational objectives, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Director provides leadership to program staff, manages resources, performs outreach, and supports organizational growth and sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management

Plan, implement, and evaluate community-based programs to ensure effectiveness and compliance with funding requirements.
Develop and monitor program goals, objectives, and performance metrics in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned programs, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

Staff Supervision and Development

Directly supervise program managers and coordinators, providing ongoing performance management, coaching, and professional development.
Conduct performance evaluations and ensure staff compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of qualified staff for community programs in collaboration with HR Director.

Fiscal and Administrative Oversight

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets.
Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with grant and contract requirements.
Maintain appropriate documentation and records in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Community and Stakeholder Relations

Represent the organization with community partners, funders, and external stakeholders.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organizations to strengthen service delivery.
Participate in relevant community meetings, advisory boards, and professional networks.

Organizational Leadership

Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership on organizational planning and policy development.
Provide leadership in the absence of the Executive Director, as assigned.
Contribute to fostering an inclusive, professional, and mission-driven organizational culture.

Miscellaneous

Collaborate with Social Media and Marketing Coordinator.
Assist in preparation, attendance and execution of CAAC outreach events.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, public administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in nonprofit program management, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
Demonstrated experience with grant compliance, program evaluation, and budget management is a plus.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required. This role is required to communicate publicly in regard to all agency programs, topics affecting senior citizens and those with disabilities, supports, and services.
Previous experience with Medicaid/ Medicare a plus.
Non-profit or Human Services organization experience is preferred.
Must be extremely organized, with excellent time management skills.
Must be computer literate.
Must have a passion for the elderly and disabled.
