Role Description The Store Manager in Training role is a full-time, on-site position based in Montgomery, AL. This role supports the Store Manager in daily operations, including assisting with opening and closing procedures, maintaining store standards, and ensuring merchandise is well-organized and visually appealing. The Store Manager in Training helps lead the sales floor by engaging guests, providing knowledgeable product recommendations, and fostering a welcoming, community-focused environment. Responsibilities include supporting staff training, promoting loss prevention practices, monitoring inventory levels, and contributing to sales goals. The role also involves handling guest concerns, coordinating with management on promotions and events, and learning core management functions to prepare for future leadership opportunities.

Customer Service
- Educates store team on how and why to create a premium shopping experience
- Monitors and oversees the customer/employee interaction - provides coaching/feedback
- Empowers staff to “use their best judgment” in order to exceed customers’ expectations

- Communicates progress towards goals & objectives in weekly store reports
- Maintains highest level of visual, store and procedure standards according to Store Report guidelines

- Prepares, reviews and approves schedule according to budget and business needs
- Responds and reacts to all company communication in a timely manner
- Holds management meetings on a regular basis to inform, solicit feedback and promote participation
- Accountable in executing physical inventories according to MHO guidelines
- Responsible to maintain all building mechanical systems, report malfunctions to appropriate business partners
- Ensures Loss Prevention best practices and adheres to MHO’s proper apprehension and prosecution procedures

Qualifications:
- 1-2+ years leadership experience
- Applicants must be over the age of 20
- High School diploma/GED education
- Demonstrated skills in Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction, with a focus on creating positive guest experiences.
- Strong Communication abilities, including clear verbal communication and active listening in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Interest or experience in Store Management, with the ability to support daily operations and guide team members.
- Awareness of Retail Loss Prevention practices and attention to detail in monitoring merchandise and store activity.
- Ability to work on-site in Montgomery, AL, with flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience in retail, outdoor gear, or a related customer-facing role is preferred.
- Passion for outdoor activities and willingness to learn about a wide range of products and brands.
- Reliable work ethic, professional demeanor, and capacity to stand, walk, and lift moderately heavy items during shifts.
