Position Summary: Responsible for the installation & termination of Coax, UTP, Multiconductor and Fiber Optic Cables. Also, responsible for the mechanical configuration of equipment racks and the installation of electronic equipment. Maintains the integrity of the system wiring and documentation.
Essential Functions:
1. Decommissioning, equipment and cable removal.
2. Cutting, labeling, pulling, dressing and terminating various types of cables.
2. Rack mounting electronic equipment to manufacturers specifications.
3. Performs mechanical set-up of equipment racks.
5. Basic operation of cable test equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Reports daily status of assigned tasks to Project Leader.
2. Reading & understanding equipment rack elevations & cable runlists.
3. Maintains a clean & organized work environment.
4. Complies with all Department Standards, Policies & Procedures.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
1. Applicants should have a basic understanding of video/audio/data signal flow.
2. Ability to read and understand safety procedures, operation & installation documentation.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers or other employees of the organization.
Travel:
1. Out of State travel opportunities with experience.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work as part of a team is essential. Must be reasonably comfortable working in a stressful environment. This position works in/near normal office environment, beneath computer floors, and possibly confined spaces.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
