About the Role

The Food Service Worker at Rockford Elementary School plays a vital role in ensuring that students receive nutritious and safely prepared meals in a welcoming environment. This position is responsible for the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food items in accordance with established health and safety standards. The role requires close collaboration with kitchen staff and school personnel to maintain efficient meal service operations during school hours. The Food Service Worker contributes to promoting healthy eating habits among children by providing appealing and well-balanced meal options. Ultimately, this position supports the overall well-being and academic success of students by delivering quality food service in a timely and hygienic manner.

Job Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals and snacks to students and staff following established menus and portion guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas in compliance with health regulations.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to food safety protocols.
Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies to ensure freshness and proper inventory management.
Engage courteously with students and staff, addressing any dietary needs or concerns as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
Demonstrated manual dexterity to handle food preparation and serving tasks.
Capability to stand for extended periods during meal service times.
Knowledge of and commitment to proper sanitization and food safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working in a food service or cafeteria environment.
Basic knowledge of nutrition and dietary restrictions relevant to school-aged children.
Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Skills
