Job Summary:
The Historic Triple B Ranch is looking for wranglers (trail guides) to join our team for the summer of 2026. We are located 3 miles north of Woodland Park, CO, bordering Pike National Forest. Please apply if you love the outdoors, are not afraid of hard work, and enjoy meeting new people.
This job covers all aspects of horse care including feeding, saddling, doctoring, grooming, corral cleaning, and maintenance. Besides working with horses, our wranglers will be responsible for maintaining trails and vehicles and will be asked to help with the general upkeep of the ranch facilities. You will also be required to help with occasional phone coverage, housekeeping and general guest ranch duties. Our wranglers are required to have a neat and clean appearance, and dress in western style (cowboy hat, cowboy boots, western jeans, belt, and collared shirts always; Spurs and chaps required when on trail rides). A typical full day could be 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and requested time off outside of two, non-consecutive days per week, is limited during the summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Care for horses, tack, and facilities.
- Take guests on guided trail rides.
- Assist guests before, during, and after trail rides.
- Ranch maintenance duties as assigned include feeding, trail maintenance, fence repair, throwing hay, painting, port-o-potty upkeep, mowing, placing orders for grain, scheduling the farrier and booking rides, etc.
- Other duties could include housekeeping, checking in guests for rides and lodging, and using basic tools.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work weekends.
- Requires strong communication skills and an enjoyment of meeting new people.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Experience riding horses on trails.
- Ability to deal with complex situations or issues and make effective, timely and appropriate decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience driving trucks, pulling trailers, using ATV’s and/or driving a tractor is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires mounting/dismounting your horse from the ground.
- Ability to carry 75-100 pounds.
- Ability to work extended hours and possess the endurance to be on your feet for most of the day.
- Must be able to ride a horse for extended duration and / or distance.
- Working during extreme weather, i.e. rain, heat, snow, thunder.
- Ability to push a wheelbarrow or lawn mower.
- Ability to use shovels, pitch forks and any other tool needed for ranch work.
COMPENSATION:
- Hourly wage + tip pool (when working at barn); hired as subcontractor
- Lodging can be provided with this position but is limited.
- Meals are not provided and are the responsibility of the staff member.
