Full Job Description

HR Specialist I

Location: Sanford, NC
Schedule: 3rd Shift — Monday night through Friday morning, 10:00 PM–8:00 AM
Work Arrangement: Onsite, Full-Time
Contract Length: 2 years
Travel: Up to 25% within the U.S.

Job Summary

We are seeking an HR Specialist I to support employees and plant leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level HR opportunity for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to handle employee concerns with professionalism and sound judgment.

The ideal candidate will have exposure to HR investigations, employee relations, compliance, employment policies, or workplace safety and be comfortable making decisions and handling sensitive employee matters independently.

Responsibilities

Support employees and managers with HR-related questions, policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
Conduct and assist with employee and workplace investigations, documenting findings and following established procedures.
Apply knowledge of company policies, employment regulations, and compliance requirements.
Assist with employee relations matters, including complaints, disciplinary actions, and corrective actions.
Support unemployment cases and related documentation.
Assist with the job abandonment process and maintain related records.
Assist with new-hire orientation, onboarding paperwork, personnel files, and documentation.
Support interviews and recruiting activities as needed.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
Assist with compensation, benefits, job classification, and other HR-related processes.
Coordinate plant uniform orders and work with vendors as needed.
Prepare reports and HR documentation using Microsoft Office applications.
Work closely with HR team members and plant leaders to address employee and workplace needs.
Provide support across multiple buildings within the plant as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
Associate's degree or equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
0–2 years of HR, employee relations, compliance, customer service, safety, or related experience.
HR internships are welcome and may be considered as relevant experience.
Experience with investigations, employee concerns, compliance, safety, or workplace policies is highly preferred.
Working knowledge of employment regulations, HR policies, or compliance requirements is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
Professional, compassionate, and comfortable being firm when handling employee matters.
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
