Neighborhood Dance is seeking exceptional, competition-driven dance instructors! Schedule is flexible. We are seeking instructors qualified to teach beginning through advanced levels of Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and/or Acro with a strong emphasis on preparing students for competitive settings. Versatility across multiple genres is highly desirable, though not required. The ideal candidate will lead by example, demonstrating punctuality, professionalism, adaptability, and a relentless drive to achieve excellence both in the studio and on the competition stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-energy, competition-focused lessons for all assigned classes, aligning with competition standards.
- Choreograph innovative, polished routines tailored for regional dance competitions, showcasing technical precision and artistic expression.
- Prepare students for the demands of competition, including refining technique, enhancing performance quality, and building stamina and stage presence.
- Provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and confidence-building support to help students meet competitive goals.
- Effectively manage classroom dynamics, fostering a supportive yet disciplined environment that promotes teamwork and individual growth.
- Stay current with competition trends, rules, and scoring systems to ensure choreography and training align with industry expectations.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to coordinate competition schedules and travel logistics as needed.
- Enforce studio rules and policies while maintaining a professional and competitive atmosphere.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of a year-end recital, integrating competition pieces where applicable.
Qualifications
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a competitive mindset with a proven track record of success in dance competitions (as an instructor, choreographer, or dancer).
- Exceptional presentation skills and professionalism, with the ability to inspire and motivate students under pressure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dance techniques, styles, and competition requirements across multiple genres.
- A genuine passion for working with children and teens, helping them grow as dancers and individuals.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, with at least 1 year focused on competition dance training or choreography.
- Strong classroom management skills, with experience preparing groups for high-stakes performances.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit a range of skill levels and learning styles in a competitive context.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage competition deadlines, rehearsals, and team preparation.
Bachelor’s Degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field preferred.
