Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced LMSW or LCSW to serve as the Behavioral Health Program Director. This leadership role involves overseeing clinical services, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health care. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in psychotherapy, mental health counseling, and case management, with a strong background in working with diverse populations including children, adults, individuals with developmental disabilities, and Geriatrics. The Program Director will play a pivotal role in developing clinical protocols, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and medical documentation standards, and advancing research initiatives within the organization. Responsibilities
Provide counseling and therapeutic services to persons of different ages from various
cultural and social economic backgrounds with different needs
Provide behavioral health services in the areas of empowerment, coping strategies,
parenting, bereavement, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, anger management, substance abuse
treatment, dependency recover, court ordered DWI, suicide, depression, anxiety, and
other areas as needed
Provide counseling services to area youth and school district students regarding a variety
of mental/behavioral health issues and needs, at MVCHS School Based Health Center
and/or onsite at MVCHS main clinic
Determine nature of client situations by interviewing and assessing medical,
psychological, emotional and social information
Develop treatment plans by establishing and exploring options, and setting treatment
goals with clients,
Assist clients in obtaining services by initiating referral to community agencies, arrange
appointments, and establish rapport with community agencies
Maintain agency credibility by establishing working relationships with service agencies
and organization in sponsorship and advisement
Promote the organization by communicating the availability and effectiveness of
programs and services, and serve as an advocate for the organization’s activities
Contribute to meaningful dialogue by participating in meetings and conferences,
consulting with other professionals, and advocating professional values
Contribute to team effort by participating in quality reviews and report progress, needs
and status of goals regularly, while maintaining clinical performance standards
Maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable state rules and regulations that can affect
the operation of the program
Additional Duties for Behavioral Health Director
Oversee the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Program
Plan, organize, assign, review, evaluate, and direct the work of assigned personnel, to
include review of patient notes and locking patient charts for billing
Evaluate staff performance on an annual or more frequent basis, if needed
Oversee the financial management of the program (i.e., assist in the development of the
Behavioral Health Department budget; assist with grant applications and reports)
Attend staff meetings regularly (i.e., Senior Staff, Quality, Boar Follow-up, etc.)
Coordinate the procurement of goods and services
Coordinate and/or conduct peer review activities for behavioral health therapists
Prepare correspondence, brochures and other informational materials
Salaries
LMSW - $75,000 per year; LCSW - $85,000 per year
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution; valid LMSW or LCSW licensure required.
- Proven experience in behavioral health program leadership or clinical supervision within mental health settings.
- Extensive knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical documentation standards, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology.
- Experience working with children & families, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders; familiarity with special education is a plus.
- Background in hospital settings or community-based care environments preferred; experience with Geriatrics or Alzheimer's care is advantageous.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, case management strategies, addiction counseling techniques, PTSD care approaches, and working with people with disabilities.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively while fostering a collaborative environment focused on patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a commitment to ethical practice standards in social work and mental health counseling.
