Federated Co-ops, Inc. is looking for a Building Materials Yard & Delivery Associate to join our Pine City Building Center & Farm Supply team to help keep our yard, inventory, customer orders, and deliveries moving. This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with customers, and operating equipment. As the Building Materials Yard & Delivery Associate, you will help receive and maintain inventory, yard equipment, pull and load customer orders, build loads for delivery, assist customers in the yard and at the counter, and ensure every order leaves our building center accurately and safely. This position may also support other parts of the Federated business during the slow season and may include propane delivery, sales support, or other duties as arranged.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Building Materials Yard & Delivery Associate include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Completes daily operations task lists for yard and office. Manage yard operations while supporting front counter and sales team.

Receiving Inventory – Counts and sorts incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition of invoices. Examine new stock to verify conformance to specifications.

Organizes and stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material.

Helps locate and load customer orders and cuts stock to size to fill order.

Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock.

Requisitions articles to fill incoming orders and fills orders or issues supplies from stock.

Marks identifying codes, figures, or letters on articles and adjusts or repairs articles carried in stock.

Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.

Moves or transports material or supplies to other areas and departments using a commercial motor vehicle/boom truck, forklift, hand lift and manually.

Operates company vehicles to deliver materials to customers in a safe manner adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.

Maintains inventory and other stock records.
Experience and Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to accurately count, measure & calculate lumber and other products

Prefer: 1-3 years of experience in retail, payment processing, or equivalent

Prefer: Lumber, home repair and/or construction knowledge.

Prefer: 1-3 years of experience using Word and Excel software, internet.

Delivery – Current CDL or ability to obtain a CDL and drive company vehicle.

Forklift – Currently possess or able to successfully obtain forklift training & certification.

Boom Truck Operation – Safely operate Boom Truck - previous experience preferred.

Propane - Prefer previous propane handling or delivery experience.
Slow Season - Propane Delivery: In addition to the above, if the employee supports propane during the slow season, the applicant must be able to maintain CDL license with Hazmat, Tanker and Air Brakes Endorsement.
Slow Season - Sales Support: In addition to the above, if the employee supports sales/marketing during the slow season, may support sales activities, marketing, learning quote and ordering systems for bid development.

Compensation:
The wage range for this position is set at $20 - $26 / hour. The actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills, certifications and based on slow season role within the organization.
