Full Job Description

Referral Coordinator / Procedure Scheduler

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator / Procedure Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and committed to ensuring a seamless patient experience through efficient coordination of referrals, authorizations, and procedure scheduling.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and process patient referrals to specialists, facilities, and ancillary services.
Obtain and verify prior authorizations from insurance carriers for procedures, diagnostic testing, and specialty care.
Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits in a timely manner.
Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, and care plans to patients.
Verify insurance eligibility and ensure referral requirements are met prior to scheduling services.
Maintain accurate documentation of referrals, authorizations, and scheduling activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, insurance companies, and outside facilities to facilitate continuity of care.
Follow up on pending referrals and authorizations to prevent delays in patient treatment.
Address patient inquiries regarding referrals, appointments, and procedure preparation requirements.
Support front office and administrative workflows as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in medical scheduling, referral coordination, or healthcare administration preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and authorization processes.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Excellent customer service skills and a patient-centered approach.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:

Medical Assistant: 3 years (Preferred)
