Full Job Description

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse to join our team at Sebree Elementary. This full-time position involves providing essential healthcare support to students and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for helping others, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with basic patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing first aid as needed.
Support students with health-related concerns, including managing chronic conditions and addressing acute health issues.
Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students and staff, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
Collaborate with school nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement health plans for students.
Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics, including hygiene practices, nutrition, and disease prevention.
Assist in the coordination of health screenings and immunization programs within the school.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care until further medical assistance arrives.
Maintain a clean and organized medical office, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are stocked and in good condition.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in healthcare and education.

Requirements

Current certification as a Register Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare preferred.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a school or pediatric environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed for school events or health programs.
