Full Job Description

Part Time Senior Services Program Assistant

Department: Senior Services

Hiring Range: $18.87 - $22.18 per hour

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

* This position will be at the East Burke location*

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This part-time position provides program support and clerical assistance for Burke County's Senior Center. The role involves assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of Senior Center activities and services. Position requires approximately 20 hours of work per workweek.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To successfully perform this position, an individual must be able to perform the following:

Develops and oversees a variety of exercise, social, recreational and educational activities for senior participants.
Provides basic support services to the Senior Services Department's senior center's staff such as delivering meals and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the Senior Center facility
Performs clerical duties such as data processing and generating records and reports
Reviews and manages the Senior Center's registration and maintains the sign-in sheets
Interacts with and assists the general public via telephone, email, or in person to provide support, information, and assistance with the Senior Center's programs and resources
Provides support to SHIIP eligible clients including training, record keeping, follow-up, etc.
Provides participants with general information regarding referral services.
Provides routine calls to at-home clients
Assists in the daily operation of the Senior Center, including opening and closing the building
Assists with delivering meals via motor vehicle when necessary
Reviews, maintains, and records documentation, such as enrollment forms, to ensure that the documents are accurate
Performs other duties as required or assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED
One (1) year of related experience is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (UPON HIRE, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED):

Valid North Carolina Driver's License
First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification (within 6 months of hire)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORKING CONDITIONS, AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES:

Standard vision requirements, with or without corrective lenses
Occasionally lifts up to twenty-five (25) pounds
Occasionally spends time standing, pushing and pulling, and engaging in repetitive motions
Routinely lifts up to ten (10) pounds
Routinely spends time reaching with hands and arms
Frequently spends time walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, and using hands or fingers to handle, feel, type, or text

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Proficient in spoken and written English
Ability to convey detailed instructions loudly, accurately, and/or quickly
Ability to receive detailed instructions or information through verbal communication
Must be able to observe general surroundings and activities
Ability to prepare and analyze written or computer data
Ability to operate and use systems, technologies, motor vehicles, and machines required to perform duties of this position
Demonstrates basic analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
